Sustainability and urban gardening aren’t new, but, if the number of books published on the subjects is any indication, their popularity keeps growing. Here are five go-green titles that have arrived at our office in the past few months.

Azure is taking a short break for the holidays. To celebrate, we leave you with a collection of images from the fabulous new book on Alexander Girard designed by Todd Oldman and Kiera Coffee, and published by AMMO. Weighing in at 6.8 kilos, the 675-page tome traces the New York textile designer’s prolific career, from his bold and colourful work for Herman Miller and his Austin Power-worthy mod interiors to his brilliant typographic works that came to define the 1960s era of optimism, happiness and play. We’ll be back on January 2, 2012.

We’re scouring the design world for the season’s coolest gifts.
