In addition to presenting the AZ Award winners, Azure also recognized 47 brilliant projects, products and concepts with Awards of Merit in its fifth annual AZ Awards.
From an eco hotel set on a bluff in Sri Lanka to furniture constructed from 11 sheets of recyclable hardwood, and a snow-melting bus shelter, the 47 Award of Merit winners are ingenious and elegant. Along with the 19 winners, these works were celebrated at Azure’s gala on Friday night.
From 720 entries that came in from all over the world, 66 finalists were selected by our jury, made up of architect Winka Dubbeldam of Archi-Tectonics (New York, US), architect Brendan MacFarlane of Jakob + MacFarlane (Paris, France), designer Anwar Mekhayech of the Design Agency (Toronto, Canada), landscape architect Janet Rosenberg of Janet Rosenberg & Studio (Toronto, Canada) and designer Philippe Malouin (London, UK).
