Offering a subtle sense of whimsy, these pendant lamps from Frederik Roijé evoke wooden fishing floats or buoys. Made in the Netherlands, the powdercoated metal forms are fitted with an opal diffuser that creates a gentle glow. Available in Round and Pencil shapes, the series features colour combinations of dark grey, white and red.

Childhood memories of a Soviet tin toy inspired the Ping series of containers, which designer Andras Rigler is launching with Petite Friture. As a young boy, Rigler was convinced that the vintage toy, kept in his grandparents’ kitchen cupboard, was watching his every move. The four-piece collection includes Ping Grand Pere, Mama, Papa and Bebe, which range in height from 21 to 10 centimetres.

These ring-based candle holders, sold in a set comprising three sizes, are meant to represent the orbiting planets of a galaxy. A collaboration between Belgian designer Alain Gilles and furniture and accessories brand XLBoom, the brass- and bronze-finished steel pieces are meant to be used in groups, setting smaller sizes within the rings of the larger ones, or in planetary alignments.

The winner of Maison & Objet’s Emerging Designer Award in 2014, Canadian designer Lukas Peet was invited to return to the show this year to show how his work and his career has evolved. Among the new projects he’s debuting in the show’s new section, “Born and Raised,” are two vases and the Salt/Pepper Vessels shown.

Cast in solid stainless steel, the pieces are finished in black and white gloss enamel and filled by removing the conical glass stopper. A subtle slit in the side dispenses the contents with a side-to-side shake.
