“Everything revolves around energy and water, the  two resources necessary for life” – that’s the focus of the ISH expo, taking place this week in Frankfurt.

Here are a few of the show’s highlights:

German heating specialist Dimplex is introducing its latest water heat pump – the BWP 30HS – which uses waste energy in the surrounding air to heat water up to 65 degrees celsius. It has a timer tuned to off-peak times, and is designed to easily integrate with solar and photovoltaic systems.

Fireplace manufacturer Spartherm is launching several new models, including two tiled stoves that boast an efficiency of over 88 per cent; smoke and ash-free bio-ethanol fireplaces; and the Selection range of highly customizable models in small, medium and large, with options like rotational base, heat water exchangers and log compartments.

Global heating and cooling manufacturer Zehnder is showcasing energy-efficient radiators, including the Bauhaus-inspired Quaro. Its pared-back form comes in three widths and three heights – the longest model is 1.8 metres tall – in both wall-mounted and freestanding versions.

ISH runs until March 19 at Messe Frankfurt in Germany.
