Every year, Toronto’s Interior Design Show plays host to top brands, international speakers and emerging talents during a three-day weekend at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Here are three reasons we’ll be hitting the show this January 22 to 24.
1 ICE Kitchen by Tom Dixon and Caesarstone
The first instalment of a year-long collaboration between Dixon – the Interior Design Show’s international guest of honour – and the surfacing company, ICE Kitchen is a semi-professional kitchen with a design inspired by Canada’s frozen lakes, and the rugged ice formations that are left behind when massive icebreakers clear the path for freighters. With hard angles and shades of grey and white, this cool kitchen begs to be explored.

2 Assembly collection by EQ3
Contemporary furniture maker EQ3 has joined forces with up-and-coming Canadian talents for its new line of accessories and small furnishings, blending natural elements with their individual artistic directions. Launching at the show, the Assembly collective is made up of 10 designers, half of whom we already know – Kenneth Lavallee, MSDS Studios, Anthony Frank Keeler, Zoë Mowat and Thom Fougere. The remaining five will be revealed during IDS, along with their designs.
3 Maker exhibit
After a highly successful debut at IDS last year, this exhibit is returning for a second go-round. A showcase for the work of artisanal, small-batch furniture makers across North America, this year’s installation features such brands as Toronto’s COO Studio and Winnipeg’s Wood Anchor. Emphasizing craftsmanship and quality materials, the products on display will include Toronto-based Coolican & Company‘s Madison chair (above right) and the A2 dresser (above left) by Miles & May of New York.
