Lights with strong personality up the ante when grouped together. Here are five clustered pendant lights that work better together, by Tom Dixon, Bomma, Artemide, Modern Forms and Bocci.
1 Going Dark
Tom Dixon has applied a slick black coating to his classic Copper pendant, doubling down on its drama while transforming it into something a little edgier. A silver-lined interior adds just the right amount of contrast.
2 A Pretty Sight
The gradated pastels of Dechem Studio’s Phenomena pendants for Bomma were created by hand-blowing the pale-hued glass directly into clear crystal. Capped with gold- or silver-finished metal tubes, the simple shapes are propelled to scene-stealing status.
3 Small Wonders
Patrick Norguet’s Giò pendants for Artemide have flared shades that cast light in a focused direction, making them ideal over intimate tables in a restaurant. The cheery red, yellow and blue contrast with the graphic black and white for an impactful grouping.
4 Slim Down
Elegantly tapered and now available in matte black, Cascade by Modern Forms can be suspended to a maximum length of 305 centimetres for use in atriums and lobbies. Its flat-cap, cut-glass spotlight enhances the streamlined design.
5 Out of this World
Late last year, Bocci introduced 13 new colours for 28, a series of masterfully misshapen hand-blown orbs. The hues can be mixed to create otherworldly displays, such as this cloud formation of 189 pendants recently hung in the brand’s Berlin showroom.
